WITHERING SURFACE (DENMARK)

WITHERING SURFACE were formed in Næstved during October 1994 issuing the 'Unique' demo session. National Danish radio voted their 1995 demo as the best demo recording of that year greatly boosting the band's profile. The band's first commercially available recordings came with the inclusion of a track on the Serious Entertainment compilation album 'Extremity Rising Volume One'. Promoting this release WITHERING SURFACE undertook gigs with the likes of A CANOUROUS QUINTET, DAWN and INIQUITY. The debut WITHERING SURFACE album, 'Scarlet Silhouettes' on the Euphonious label issued in April 1997, boasts a guest appearance from IN FLAMES and HAMMERFALL man Jesper Strömblad and is produced by the DECAMERON duo of Fredrik Nordström and Alex Losbäck. Guitarist Morten Ryberg though was to lose his place to Heinz Schultz. WITHERING SURFACE would also make further impact in October 1997 with their interpretation of MERCYFUL FATE's 'The Oath' committed to a Listenable Records tribute album.
